AVn-60n (Gen-2) ..... twangy Tele neck
AVn-60n (Gen-2 neck pickup)The all NEW Gen-2 version is very different to the original 1st generation design. We recommend you scroll to the Technical & Application Info section below for important stuff you should know about this new model. The taller coil, longer magnets and Kinman's patented magnetic focusing device produces non-aged sound which is much more alive and open than it's Gen-1 predecessor. The sound of the new AVn-60n Gen-2 has more pronounced twang and increased dynamic range for more fluid touch sensitivity. Strings feel more relaxed and the notes flow freely. Behaves like a new non-noiseless pickup and tends to resist crunching too easily under heavy pick attack. It's louder and brighter too so it balances well with it's companion AVn-60b bridge pickup. Volume pot should be 500k to achieve the best sonic performance. We have a very nice non-noiseless Fender pickup here which we all agree is the best Tele neck pickup we have heard and the AVn-60n Gen-2 is the equal of our Fender reference pickup in every way except it has no hum whatsoever. This is a stunning achievement for a hum-cancelling pickup and is what makes Kinman the King of Noiseless, and the AVn-60n Gen-2 is our crowning glory. The sound has a nice soft snap, soft open twang with well defined piano mid-tones and sweet sweet highs. You'll get loads of dynamics with minimal pick action. The AVn-60n Gen-2 has unmistakable Telecaster charisma and tonal flavor. Excellent on-stage definition without having to play too loud. It will sound as good to your audience as it does to you whether it's soft, loud or distorted. The 3 new Vintage Neck pickup models, AVn-60n, AVn-48n and Impersonator 52n, have a lot in common but there are subtle but significant differences between them. The AVn-48n has the sharpest twang with the most prominent piano mid tones. The AVn-60n is one step down and has a slightly more mellow twang and slightly softer feel and is about as loud as the 48n. The Impersonator 52n is the most rounded with the mildest trebles and has the same loudest as the others. The sonic performance is upheld by our NEW Gen-2 Nickel-Silver cover which is engineered to look like the original but not impact in a negative way on the sonic performance of the pickup as the original 60's Fender Chromed Brass covers do. Our cover is also arched to allow staggered magnets which produce much improved string volume balance. Also the cover does not produce buzz when touched with fingers. Available in 3 finishes, Chrome plated, Gold plated and buffed un-plated Nickel-Silver that will age fast for a relic look. Orders shipped after 30-Jan-2017 will have the Gen-2 upgrade. To kill the hum without killing the tone and preserve the original appearance has taken nothing less than a technological revolution. This pickup has Kinman's propriety Alnico low strength magnets, like all our Fender type pickups, so string pull is minimized, sustain is longer and there is less rattle and buzz from the strings crashing into the frets from excessive magnet pull. Sounds best in a Kinman Goodbye-Soldering Harness. Some people will call these noiseless Telecaster pickups but Kinman prefers to describe them correctly as Zero-Hum Telecaster pickups. That's because there are 2 types of noise, Hum which is cancelled in the pickup -and- Buzz which can only be minimized by shielding the wiring cavities (refer to >Technical >Perfect Guitar >Shielding for newer guitars

We highly recommend consulting the Install Guide in Tech Info even if you think you know it all. Kinmans' require specialized knowledge and sometimes there is updated info. There is also a handy wiring diagram available. We also highly recommend consulting the Adjust & Set-up page in Tech Info so you get the best out of your Kinman pickups. ** Alnico-K is a unique proprietary Alnico rod magnet developed by Kinman in 1985. It is Alnico-5 but has 40% less string pull than Alnico-5 so sustain is longer and there is much less clatter from string crash and no Strat-itis string warble. * Fender and Telecaster and Tele are registered Trade Marks of Fender Musical Instrument Corp, Inc. Kinman is not associated with FMIC but they kindly permit us to refer to their Trade Marks to reference our products. |
