Hello again Chris & Joe. The pickups in the FatMaster (Extra) are incredible. Very unique sound. They handle distortion and gain extremely well. I love the sounds I am getting from them. The bridge, mid, neck positions are all voiced perfectly. The low noise is incredible. It allows me to try levels of saturation that I was never comfortable with due to the extreme noise (hum and electrical buzz). These pickups are dead quiet, and they were extremely easy to install.

Getting great clean tones as well from them. Very satisfied with my purchase. Before buying these I had been constantly searching for a guitar that would please me. I've owned tele, strat, epihpone sheraton, les paul, Ibanez with various different mainstream pickups in them. Nothing has ever fully satisfied what I wanted. The jazzmaster with these pickups finally allows me to just focus on playing, and dialing great tones.

I've been using a sansamp gt2 with these on my amp head. Incredible sound. My bands guitar recordings are now what we always envisioned, allowing us to achieve the album we had in mind sonically. Every distortion pedal I try with these pickups just sounds amazing. Thanks for working with me, and thanks for making such an excellent pickup. Have a great day guys.

Holy smokes these Kinman Thick-Master pickups are other-worldly. I wish I could rate you again just to give you 5 more stars on Reverb. Because of your pickups, my J Mascis has turned into the star of my collection. I could use all of the pickup sales buzz words to describe the sound but you know how special the pickups are. I assume that is one reason to keep doing what you do and much respect. From the first moment, there is genuine love from the warmth and complexity up to the searing presence and crunchy lows.

So many styles and so little time. And a question…what kind of pickups are they technically speaking? Are they heavy wound single coils? They almost have a P90 quality to them, just curious. Whatever they are, they are magic. Thanks.  Richard

ED: Thanks for you accolade Richard.  Yes, in a way you're right, they do have a rather heavy wound coil, BUT, there is the Kinman difference.  We always want to avoid muddy sound and lack of dynamic response that over-winding causes so we incorporated some of our patented technology which does precisely that. The result is an incredible and unique livliness despite a heavy and powerful coil. It's good to hear how much you love our unique Kinman sound.  Joe

I can't understand why anyone who ever picks up a Jazzmaster, from the stage to the garage, would ever want anything besides your pickups!

I installed my Thickmaster pick up set and I just have to say thanks for making these pickups. I use a lot of drive effects and the pickups in the J Mascis were absolutely unusable due to to how noisy they were. The Kinmans are perfect, no noise beautiful tone. Money well spent. Cheers Steven

Just wanted to pass a message saying how happy I am with your pickups (FatMaster Neck & SurfMaster bridge). The sounds I'm getting from them is exactly what I was hoping for and represents a very distinct voice in my arsenal. I'll certainly consider you folks again as I work through new projects.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! I have just finished installing the FatMasters in my guitar. I honestly can't describe how happy I am. The guitar sounded good before - except for all the noise - but it's positively stunning now! It is exactly as you say... your pickups retain all the great qualities of the original pickups, but sound even better than the originals. I'll definitely be posting positive reviews in some forums soon, maybe with some example recordings, too. Thanks again!

Hey Chris, Just letting you know that I’ve had your set of your FatMaster pickups fitted to a J Mascis Jazzmaster and they’re fabulous. Really great. Tight, musical, perfect mix of brightness and stab. Fender should put them in all of their JM’s, I think. Best regards,

I believe these pickups for Jazzmaster (Fatmaster) is best choice to create clean and delicate tone more than Fender's original ones. Will order again for my Stratcaster !

Hi Chris i just want to let you know that my Jazzmaster now sounds amazing. The SurfMasters are even better than I expected. I thought I'd notice an improvement mainly in the neck pickup but both pickups sound way better than the originals. thanks mate John Farrar (Composer’ Songwriter Los Angeles)

The Kinman FatMasters are excellent. And quiet, I mean like quieter than a humbucker, it's kind of amazing. Near the computer and all the rest of my outboard gear there’s a significant hum field and it's so nice not to hear that hum. I also like the low magnetic string pull. So how do they sound? Very, very, very close to my ’62 Fender Reissue. I’ve been going back and forth between my amp and the Kemper, playing at different volume levels and they’re stacking up well. The Kinmans can hear higher frequencies but I have them canted ever so slightly away from the treble side. To my ears a stock Jazzmaster, on the two pickup surf setting, has a lot of ping to it anyway, a glassiness to the top end. The Kinmans can do that sound easily. I like to back off that sound just a little with a touch less treble. They respond well to small height and tilt adjustments. Got some 500K pots I might play with in the future just to see how the Kinmans respond to that. But they’re definitely super close (with 1 meg pots) to the stock Fender pickups I have. So after playing with my FatMasters all day I am arriving at the idea that the Kinmans have a piano-like quality (especially on the wound strings) that stock Fender JM p-ups don't have. So instead of being concerned with matching '62 AVRI p-ups now we have to ask a new question: Where can the Kinmans sonically take me that I couldn't go before? This is an excellent dilemma for a guitar player to have ... These FatMasters are superb pickups. Nice to have a happy ending. Great work by all the folks at Kinman! Fan-damn-tastic! Thank you.

After using Kinman Jazzmaster  pickups I don't see the point in using other pickups if I want a single coil sound.  I have 3 sets and now going for the fourth set.  I play indie and garage rock.
