Broadcaster Set ..... terrific Tele* sound with attitude

Gen-2 Broadcaster set

This set is comprised of AVn-48b Gen-2 & AVn-48n Gen-2 singles (details in the Single Pickup section).

Broadcaster set with our all new Gen-2 technology

Our ever popular Broadcaster set just got even better.  Do you want more meat and focused tone with lots of dynamics, drive and attitude as well as pristine but sweet Fender highs?

Brad Paisleys favorite pickups ..... and you will feel confidently in charge of your guitar sounds too.

This set has authentic single coil high end cut and the low mids growl more so than the twangy 60's Custom set.  The excellent dynamic range will delight Tele players who want powerful punch.  The middle position of the selector switch produces an intense cluck for "that" Tele sound that some players have said is "to die for".

These all NEW Gen-2 pickups are very different to the original 1st generation predecessor.  The taller coil, longer magnets and Kinman's patented magnetic focusing device produces non-aged sound which is much more alive and open.  The sound is punchier with increased dynamic response for more fluid touch sensitivity (strings feel more relaxed and the springy sound just flows without effort).

Zero-Hum and wax potted for zero microphonic screech.  Best in a Kinman TK3 or TK4 Goodbye-Soldering Harness.

These pickups have Kinman's propriety Alnico low strength magnets, like all our Fender type pickups, so string pull is minimized, sustain is longer and there is less rattle and buzz from the strings crashing into the frets from excessive magnet pull and there is no Ice-Pick.

We recommend you scroll to the Technical & Application Info section below for important stuff you should know about the new Neck pickup.

Technical & Application info:

Some people will call these noiseless Telecaster pickups but Kinman prefers to describe them correctly as Zero-Hum Telecaster pickups.  That's because there are 2 types of noise, Hum which is cancelled in the pickup and Buzz which can only be minimized by shielding the wiring cavities (refer to >Technical >Perfect Guitar >Shielding for newer guitars

Number of parts in this pickup: 38
Number of parts in normal pickup: 10
Number of parts in other brand noiseless: 23

US Patents 7,022,909 & 8,791,351

Adjustment requirements

  • Please refer to >Technical >Adjust & Setup

Cavity depths required

  • Suitable for vintage spec models which have pickup cavity depth of 16mm (5/8").

Connection means available

  • Bare wires for soldering.
  • Kinman connectors for plugging into any Kinman Goodbye-Soldering Harness.

Hook-up wires

  • Cut generously longer than necessary for Telecasters.
  • Custom lengths by request with Order.
  • Bridge pickups have 2 or optional 3 conductor shielded or single wires.  The 3 mounting screws provide a ground link to the bridge/strings.
  • Neck pickup has 3 conductor shielded cable (suitable for series connection of 4 pos switch -and- phase reversible -and- compatible with Fender's S1 harness).

Output Polarity

  • Both pickups are Phase reversible when specified with 3 single hook-up wires so can adapt to any companion pickups.

Pot & Capacitor values

  • Great Tele sound with 250k volume pot.  A 500k volume pot makes the twang sharper.  Both are good.
  • Tone pot is usually the same value as the volume but for a little more top end brightness can be 1meg or a No-Load.
  • Stock pots can actually measure as low as 170k and 350k.  Pots in our Goodbye-Soldering Harness are guaranteed to measure no less that 250k and 500k respectively.
  • Normal tone cap value of 0.022uF in 63 ~ 100 volt Polyester.  Smaller value reduces the severity of Treble cut, larger values increase it.

Magnet spreads

  • Bridge 55mm (standard) slanted mount resolves to 53.5mm
  • Neck 50mm (standard)

Magnet Staggers

  • Normal improved Stagger to suit 7 ~ 14 inch range uniform radius fretboards.
  • Flat Stagger for specific compound radius fretboards (Warmoth 10 ~ 16 inch & Post 2010 Fender Deluxe 9 ~ 14").
  • Option to change the magnet stagger of sets and singles in our 'After-Ordering Supplementary Questions' email we send you.

Dimensions

Mounting hardware included

  • 3 Pan head mounting screws 6-32 UNC x 18mm for bridge
  • 2 Pan head mounting screws 4-40 UNC x 18mm.
  • 5 Silicon Rubber tube springs.

Covers

  • Tele bridge pickups don't have covers, the top coil is bound with white twine and wax potted for protection.
  • NEW Tele neck pickup hand buffed Natural Nickel-Silver (great for relicing) cover for extended durability and zero impact on sonic performance.  Matching mounting screws.
  • Arched top to accommodate staggered magnets for perfect string volume balance.
  • With or without Kinman logo.

We highly recommend consulting the Install Guide in Tech Info even if you think you know it all.  Kinmans' require specialized knowledge and sometimes there is updated info.  There is also a handy wiring diagram available.

We also highly recommend consulting the Adjust & Set-up page in Tech Info so you get the best out of your Kinman pickups.

** Alnico-K is a unique proprietary Alnico rod magnet developed by Kinman in 1985.  It is Alnico-5 but has 40% less string pull than Alnico-5 so sustain is longer and there is much less clatter from string crash and no Strat-itis string warble.
